Round 3 of the 1991 World Rally Championship series set off from Estoril, Portugal proved to be one of the wettest world championship rallies ever. Carlos Sainz (Toyota Celica GT-Four) headed an illustrious field including Miki Biasion, Didier Auriol and Juha Kankkunen - all Lancia Delta Integrales 16vs plus Markku Alen and Francois Chatriot (Subaru Legacy 4WD Turbos), Alex Fiorio (Ford Sierra Cosworth 4x4) and Hannu Mikkola (Mazda 323GTX).
